About The Position

JTB Hawaii Travel, LLC, (JHT) has evolved and expanded its operations, from an on-the-ground travel support services to inbound Japan travelers, to establishing itself as Hawaii's market leader in innovative entertainment and travel services. JTB Hawaii Travel continues to develop and integrate its expertise, experience and synergy in travel planning, destination promotion and event management as it seeks to further solidify its position as a full-fledged destination management company (DMC). [Pay Range: $17.00 - $22.50] PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop tour related programs, systems, and events for package tours. Maintain and issue tour related sales news. Support JTB offices in Japan.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with minimum of one (1) year of related work or industry related experience.
  • Possess communication skills in English and able to read, write, and speak Japanese. Able to communicate in Japanese/non-Japanese customers in a professional and friendly manner required.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to communicate and negotiate with external sources.
  • Possess knowledge of Hawaii’s tourism infrastructure, as well as, knowledge of Japanese tour characteristics, culture, and customs.
  • Possess knowledge of basic computer systems, application programs, e-mail, and standard office equipment.
  • Possess valid Hawaii driver’s license with clean abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, plan and negotiate with business partners to create tour-related programs and events. All necessary preparation and system registration, oversee programs until completion. Respond to inquiries from JTB offices in Japan; resolve concerns and issues, and support sales promotion. Create, verify, proofread, and provide necessary information for tour-related tools and activities such as pamphlets, maps, booklets, websites, blog and movies. Compare and review rates and conditions of multiple companies to suggest the most appropriate vendor. Review vendor contracts and rates to ensure that information is correct for programs.
  • Record sales performance and feedback from customers and analyze for future planning. Assist with arranging and maintaining Override commission contracts, held under strict confidentiality. Maintain records of various commissions from vendors.
  • Coordinate and attend event-related functions, site inspections, and meetings. Meet with business partners and clients for Planning and Supervision purpose for special events. Assist with JTB events such as Summer Program, Honolulu Marathon, and Honolulu Festival. Cooperate and maintain good communication with other departments, divisions, and affiliated companies to assure that every aspect of operations function smoothly.
  • Assists to negotiate, coordinate, and establish contracts with business partners for optional tours. Assist with developing new options and coordinating proposals to management periodically. Review vendor contracts and rates to ensure that information is correct for annual and seasonal programs with optional tour companies, transportation companies related to optional tours, and other business partners. Determine rates, check vendors’ insurance, create cancellation policies, checks contents of tours, booking procedures, etc. Update and maintain optional tour tariff data in various in-house computer systems Verify and proofread printed matter.
  • Assist other departments or sections during peak periods as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
