Bring your innovative ideas, knowing you are safe to be yourself, voice your concerns or questions, and utilize your diverse talents and perspectives.#The OpportunityBlack & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for an early-career Water Resource Planning position focused on focused on stormwater planning and design, asset management, water quality and integrated planning. Within our U.S. planning, water resources, and stormwater business, we have seen consistent growth driven by our clients’ needs to address challenges stemming from stormwater management, flood control, condition assessment services for conveyance/transmission assets, aging infrastructure, and supply planning to support population growth and resilience. This represents a strategic business initiative for Black & Veatch, and the Water Resource Planning position is structured to help the company grow its market share by providing world-class planning, water resource, and asset management services.

Requirements

• Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
• All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
• Engineer-in-Training Certificate (or ability to acquire the same)

Nice To Haves

• 2-5 years of water resources planning, stormwater design, dam safety, and/or condition assessment experience
• Experience developing and executing water resource planning and design projects is preferred
• Proficiency with working and collaborating in virtual environments (MS Teams, WebEx, Zoom)
• Proficiency with some or all of the following software applications and models
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project)
• ESRI ArcGIS or QGIS
• AutoCAD
• HEC-RAS
• HEC-HMS
• EPA/XP-SWMM
• InfoWorks
• StormWise (formerly ICPR)
• Capable of conducting site reconnaissance and remote investigations
• Experience with regulatory requirements and procedures (FEMA, USACE, and EPA) preferred
• Support client-facing and business development efforts
• CFM (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Support hydrologic and hydraulic planning, modeling, and design of stormwater and wet weather improvements, including open channels, storm sewer systems, stormwater detention/retention facilities, dams, levees, and reservoirs.
• Support water supply planning that provides long-term resilient supplies and mitigates climate change, regulatory uncertainty, aging infrastructure, and population growth/demand changes.
• Support planning and design of green infrastructure, low impact development, and sustainable watershed measures, including structural BMPs.
• Support erosion and sediment control planning and design, including SWPPP development.
• Interface with innovative stormwater, water quality, and planning partners to leverage new technologies and approaches for the benefit of our clients.
