This internship offers hands-on clinical exposure within an inpatient psychiatric setting serving adolescents and adults. Interns will gain experience in assessment, documentation, group facilitation, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration under direct clinical supervision. This placement is ideal for students interested in clinical social work, behavioral health, trauma-informed care, substance use treatment, and hospital-based practice . Learning Opportunities & Responsibilities Under appropriate supervision, interns may: Observe and participate in psychosocial assessments and biopsychosocial interviews Co-facilitate or observe process groups and psychoeducational groups Assist with discharge planning, community referrals, and continuum-of-care coordination Participate in treatment team meetings and interdisciplinary rounds Support family engagement, collateral contacts, and patient education efforts Learn clinical documentation standards within the electronic medical record (EMR) Observe crisis intervention, safety planning, and risk assessment practices Engage in weekly individual supervision and reflective learning activities Complete school-required learning contracts, logs, and evaluations Intern responsibilities will be tailored to academic level and program requirements.
