About The Position

Johns Hopkins University seeks an outstanding individual with exceptional strategic, financial, operational and interpersonal skills to become the next Associate Vice President for Planning and Budget within University Finance. The finance department is collectively responsible for developing and implementing strategic planning, policies, and programs to provide the highest quality of services and support for its customers. University Finance manages and oversees the University's financial resources in support of its mission. The next Associate Vice President for Planning and Budget will have a compelling opportunity to lead the effort to enhance and establish new processes, technologies, and strategies that enable fiscal decision-making and sustainability university wide. The Associate Vice President for Planning and Budget reports to the vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer for Johns Hopkins University since 2024. The Associate Vice President for Planning and Budget (AVP) is a key member of the senior finance administration responsible for providing overall guidance and direction for annual operating and capital budgets and five-year financial plans at the University. The AVP will have direct responsibility for significantly strengthening the quality of financial planning and analysis required to inform University leadership's decision-making regarding allocation of scarce capital and operating resources in support of university priorities. Johns Hopkins is a very large, highly decentralized and complex institution, with significant local resource control and decision-making responsibility. The AVP has the unique opportunity to promote a central planning function that provides a strategic view to the fiscal management of the University and its academic, cultural, and other operating centers. The AVP will have responsibility for effectively leading and managing the Office of Planning and Budget which will include the growing university budget office and capital finance teams. They will lead innovative change that will improve the use of the University's resources while maintaining the institution's high degree of responsible stewardship.
