About The Position

The Associate Vice President of Diagnostic Imaging is responsible for the operational oversight and performance of diagnostic imaging services across Marshall Health Network, including acute care hospitals and ambulatory locations. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered imaging services aligned with organizational priorities. The Associate Vice President partners with physician leaders and operational teams to drive clinical excellence, access, quality, financial performance, and systemwide standardization across all imaging modalities, while supporting workforce development, innovation, and continuous improvement across the continuum of care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in radiologic science, healthcare administration, business administration, public health, or a related field required.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology, medical imaging, or radiologic science required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in diagnostic imaging operations.
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, budget management, and operational oversight in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvement, innovation, and achieving measurable results.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and accreditation processes (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, ACR, JCERT, and NRC).
  • Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary imaging teams across acute and ambulatory sites.
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including budgeting, capital planning, and resource optimization.
  • Expertise in healthcare regulations and imaging accreditation standards, quality improvement, and patient safety.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of driving innovation, operational excellence, and systemwide standardization while guiding teams through complex transitions and ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Data-driven decision-maker, leveraging clinical, operational, and financial metrics to improve performance.
  • Collaborative problem-solver skilled in building relationships with physician leaders and operational partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative oversight, leadership, and direction to all diagnostic imaging service departments, driving consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Works with the MHN Vice President of Ancillary Services to develop strategic plans for the diagnostic imaging service area, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and all patient safety and quality initiatives, and leads and directs implementation of such plans.
  • Collaborates with organizational leaders to ensure the seamless integration of diagnostic imaging services within the ancillary service line and the overall MHN care delivery model.
  • Collaborates with access, marketing, and operational leaders to ensure clear communication and appropriate utilization of diagnostic imaging services across the system.
  • Partners with physicians and academic leaders to support the teaching, research, and clinical missions of diagnostic imaging services.
  • Leads in the identification and implementation of best practices to optimize service delivery, improve workflows, maximize efficiency, and enhance overall patient outcomes and experience.
  • Structures operational goals and activities to align with and support MHN’s strategic objectives and mission.
  • Remains current on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in diagnostic imaging services to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Oversees the development of and adherence to annual budgets for all functional areas of responsibility, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources and cost-effective operations.
  • Oversees contract negotiations and vendor relationships for equipment, supplies, and services within the diagnostic imaging departments.
  • Ensures all diagnostic imaging services operate in full compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
  • Oversees capital planning for equipment necessary to the delivery of diagnostic imaging services, including procurement, installation, and end-of-life management.
  • Provides executive oversight and accountability for the management, maintenance, and performance of diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance, safety, and optimal systemwide utilization.
  • Fosters strong intra-disciplinary collaboration to optimize patient care.
  • Aids in the identification of opportunities for revenue enhancement and expense reduction while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Oversees performance management, staff development, and employee engagement strategies for diagnostic services teams.
  • Builds a culture within areas of responsibility that supports the mission and values of Marshall Health Network.
  • Serves on internal management boards and committees, as appropriate.
