About The Position

Mount Marty University is pleased to accept applications for the Associate Vice President for Student Success. The Associate Vice President for Student Success provides leadership, vision, and administrative oversight for a range of programs that serve to advise, educate, and advocate for students through consistent engagement, residential programming, and student support. The AVP develops systems, processes, and programs that facilitate campus-wide collaboration and communication that support a vibrant campus life program and fosters student success. The Associate Vice President is responsible for the supervision and support of Student Engagement, Residence Life, and the Counseling and Center for Academic Excellence (Academic Support Services and Advising, Disability Services, Career Services, First-Year/Second Year Experience).

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Higher Administration and Student Personnel or related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional working experience within reporting departments
  • Extensive knowledge of the higher education field
  • Excellent written and oral communication, well-developed presentation skills, and outstanding customer service
  • Competency with Microsoft Office applications and standard Student ERP/CRM systems

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the overall planning, administration, and leadership of the Division of Student Success in support of success, retention, and completion rates for Mount Marty University students
  • Provide training, direction and support in the areas of planning, human resources, policy development, operational, facility, evaluation and budgetary aspects for all reporting departments.
  • Ensure program planning, data collection, assessment and evaluation and actively transforms findings into initiatives for action.
  • Develop key relationships with campus administrative areas, faculty, and campus leaders to plan and implement strategic initiatives, develop partnerships and collaborations, resolve issues, and foster success in curricular and co-curricular learning.
  • Facilitate a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Assist in the coordination of the Student Affairs response to major crises and other unusual events impacting students in the University community.
  • Enhance student success through the development of policies and programs which promote the personal growth and development of students.
  • Coordinate and implement centralized educational support services, including peer tutoring programs, academic skills development opportunities and academic counseling and/or coaching.
  • Utilize advising, one-on-one meetings, group workshops, and other programming to empower students to examine personal learning strategies and monitor their use of academic success skills.
  • Lead First and Second Year specialized programs and activities, including the First Year Advising program, GEN 102: Freshman Seminar and True Blue.
  • Coordinates the campus Early Alert Program and Student Success Structure to connect students to available resources and educate the university community on student needs, concerns, issues, trends, and development.
  • Collaborate with institutional leadership to ensure that policies, procedures and programs align to support diversity, equity, and inclusion and foster a welcoming and inclusive campus climate for all students.
  • Remains competent and current on student development theory and best practices through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Division of Student Affairs by performing all other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Success.
  • Lead and serve on various division and university committees.
