About The Position

Under general supervision of the Vice President for Academics, Student Affairs and Research, the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Student Affairs will oversee and manage student services functions within the Division of Academics, Student Affairs and Research. The AVP for Student Affairs will develop and implement educational programming, activities, and professional development that facilitate student success and goal attainment in support of the SC Technical College System's mission and vision. Serve in assigned areas as student services liaison with Chief Student Services Officers, peer groups and other committees for projects and matters relating to student services, student issues, and staff development. Oversee the student grievances and issues process including addressing questions, assisting in resolution of problems, and documenting processes and resolutions. Serve as Title IX Coordinator. Supervise staff responsible for implementation of policies, procedures, and development of reports related to student services activities. Evaluate all system wide policy/procedure relative to student services and recommends necessary changes or modifications. Collaborate with System Office staff to maximize effectiveness of student affairs programs. Represent the System Office as student services liaison with external agencies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and relevant program management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of historic and current theory and practice of student services administration in postsecondary environments with special knowledge of application at the community/technical college level.
  • Considerable experience managing a variety of student services functions.
  • Ability to research and analyze federal laws and regulations and interpret for application at the local and state level.
  • Ability to analyze college operations and present recommendations for change.
  • Ability to perform audit functions and manage audit processes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
