The Associate Vice President for Policy at Indiana University Bloomington plays a crucial role in advancing the university's commitment to academic quality, continuous improvement, and inclusive excellence. This position is situated within the Office of the Vice President for Strategic Operations, specifically in the University Accreditation and Effectiveness area. The primary responsibility of the Associate Vice President is to serve as the main facilitator of the university's administrative policy framework, ensuring that policies and procedures are effectively established, communicated, maintained, reviewed, and aligned with the university's mission, strategic goals, and legal responsibilities. In this role, the Associate Vice President will work collaboratively with policy owners, senior leaders, and managers across the university. They will develop and enhance tools and processes used in policy initiation, development, review, and maintenance, including managing the policy web page and online policy manual. The Associate Vice President will assist with the policy development process throughout the university to achieve consistency and avoid duplication or conflicts among policies. They will also establish an ongoing process for continuous improvement of policy practices and educate the university community on the policy process. The position requires a proactive approach to collaborating with various stakeholders to assess policy needs and assist policy owners in drafting, revising, and editing policies or procedures in conformance with university policy standards. The Associate Vice President will benchmark with peer institutions and research policy implications and options, serving as a resource or project manager for various committees or workgroups established in connection with policy development. Regular reviews of university administrative policies will be conducted to ensure they remain accurate, current, effective, and aligned with the university's broader mission and strategic plans. Additionally, the Associate Vice President will facilitate meetings to review policy plans and documents for clarity and consistency, and develop and disseminate timely information regarding new and amended policies to the university community.
