About The Position

The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA) provides leadership and oversight for key academic support and program units, including the Walker Memorial Library, Center for Student Success, Office of the Registrar, Office of Graduate Studies, and the Dean of Online Programs. The AVPAA also helps to drive innovation and growth in academic offerings through the development of new undergraduate, graduate, and online programs. In collaboration with deans, faculty, and campus partners, the AVPAA ensures that academic initiatives align with institutional mission, strategic goals, and accreditation standards while fostering a culture of excellence in teaching, learning, and student success.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree or equivalent from an accredited University or more than 10 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Significant administrative experience in higher education, including program development and academic leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in supervising multiple units and managing budgets.
  • Strong understanding of accreditation processes, regulatory requirements, and best practices in higher education.
  • Ability to lead collaborative initiatives, working effectively with faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and support to the directors/leaders of the Library, Center for Student Success, Office of the Registrar, Office of Graduate Studies, and Online Programs.
  • Guide strategic planning, budget management, and operational effectiveness for these units.
  • Foster collaboration across academic and student support services to promote holistic student success.
  • Lead the research, design, and implementation of new academic programs (undergraduate, graduate, and online) that align with institutional mission and market demand.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, market analyses, and enrollment projections to inform program planning.
  • Collaborate with deans, department chairs, and faculty to design curricula that meet accreditation and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the development and submission of proposals for internal and external approval, including governing boards and accrediting bodies.
  • Partner with the VPAA to advance institutional goals for academic quality, innovation, and growth.
  • Support accreditation processes and compliance efforts across academic units.
  • Provide leadership in academic policy development and implementation.
  • Serve on committees and councils as assigned, representing Academic Affairs.
  • Ensure that academic support units are aligned with the mission of the university and effectively support student retention, persistence, and graduation.
  • Promote collaboration among academic support services, faculty, and academic leadership to improve student outcomes.
