About The Position

Warren Wilson College is looking for an innovative, student-centered leader to join our dynamic community as the Associate Vice President & Director of Residence Life; Title IX Coordinator (AVP). This role offers a unique opportunity to make a profound impact on our residential campus where our distinctive approach to experiential learning intentionally integrates academics, campus work, and community engagement to create a transformative educational experience. The AVP is a senior leader in the Division who reports directly to the Vice President for Student Engagement (VPSE), serves on the VPSE leadership team, and provides administrative leadership and oversight to the Division in the absence of the VPSE. The AVP serves as the Director of Residence Life for a robust residence life program of approximately 800 students and will be instrumental in leading efforts to maximize the impacts of our living-learning communities. This leadership position is an opportunity for a gifted leader who is looking to make an impact on student development while advancing our commitment to inclusive excellence.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree education in student personnel, higher education administration or related field.
  • 9+ years of progressively significant leadership experience in student affairs.
  • 3+ years experience serving as Director of Residence Life in a college setting.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Title IX cases.
  • Thorough understanding of student development and learning theories, best practices, and organizational management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current issues in higher education and federal laws impacting college students.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student information relations systems and technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree. ABD will be considered.
  • ATIXA Coordinator or similar certification.
  • Demonstrated leadership in professional associations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative leadership and oversight to the Student Engagement division in the absence of the Vice President.
  • Coordinates and implements assessments and evaluations for the Division.
  • Oversees staff professional development in the Division.
  • Assures policies and procedures are up to date and in compliance.
  • Serves as co-advisor to the Student Government Association.
  • Engages in crisis response as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT).
  • Develops and administers a comprehensive residence life program for approximately 800 students.
  • Ensures a safe living and learning environment that embraces inclusivity.
  • Develops, maintains and promotes the residence life mission, strategic plans, policies and procedures.
  • Supervises, selects, trains, and evaluates professional staff.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the institution's compliance to Title IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
