About The Position

The Corporate Information Services Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Associate Vice President – Enterprise Resource Planning. The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Information Services Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is responsible for strategy, implementation, and optimization of the of UHS’s Workday platform and related ERP solutions across Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, and Supply Chain functions. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the AVP partners closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Senior Vice President of Strategic Services and other executive leaders to ensure ERP systems deliver operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and actionable business insights. The AVP will develop and lead consolidated ERP application and technology-related teams, direct major ERP initiatives, and manage vendor relationships to deliver high-value, sustainable solutions for the organization.

Requirements

  • 15 years+ of progressive information technology leadership experience in the healthcare provider industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with Workday or other leading ERP related platforms.
  • Proven record of leading technology-related change programs in large, complex organizations, ensuring scope, timeline, and budget commitments are achieved.
  • Experience collaborating directly with C-suite leaders to deliver enterprise technology solutions, fostering trust and alignment across multiple areas.
  • Exceptional leadership and team developmental skills.
  • Ability to create repeatable, sustainable processes for effective ERP implementation and support, leading to successful adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Strong vendor management and contract negotiation experience.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and change management skills, staying focused on the job with a high degree of attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful implementation of Workday across human resources, payroll, finance, and supply chain.
  • Direct system configuration, integration, testing, data migration, education and change management activities.
  • Drive business process optimization to maximize ERP capabilities and return on investment.
  • Create sustainable and repeatable processes to ensure ERP systems are reliable, secure, and optimized for performance.
  • Establish and manage service level agreements for support, maintenance, and enhancements.
  • Monitor ERP usage metrics to identify training needs and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure ERP compliance with HIPAA, SOX, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee data security, privacy protections, and access controls within ERP platforms.
  • Develop and maintain ERP disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Ensure a high degree of collaboration between the ERP teams and other technology and cybersecurity functions at UHS.
  • Manage ongoing capital and operating cost forecasts and actual expenses to approved plans.
  • Manage relationships with Workday and other ERP vendors, system integrators/services firms, including vendor contract negotiations, renewals and performance metrics.
  • Develop a new consolidated and unified ERP team.
  • Build a capable and flexible team that will adapt as necessary to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Create a positive and rewarding environment for team members.
  • Attract, coach, and retain effective talent.
  • Partner with the UHS senior leadership team (CHRO, CFO, SVP of Strategic Services, and CIO) to align ERP initiatives with organizational strategy.
  • Provide regular executive-level reporting on project progress, risks, and successes.
  • Oversee ERP governance processes to prioritize initiatives and allocate resources effectively.
  • Serve as the executive point of accountability for ERP system performance and business outcomes.
  • Define and lead the ERP strategic roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and priorities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on ERP capabilities and emerging opportunities, including the evaluation of new ERP modules and technologies for potential adoption or future consolidation of disparate systems to a unified platform.
  • Build and sustain an effective feedback process to ensure appropriate ERP adoption and satisfaction within UHS’ Acute and Behavioral Health Division hospitals.
