About The Position

The Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Marketing and Brand Strategy at the University of Denver is responsible for championing the university's brand and leading strategic marketing communications efforts. Reporting to the Senior Vice Chancellor for University Relations, the AVC ensures consistent marketing strategies and directs the brand, marketing, digital, and creative initiatives. This role involves proactive leadership, collaboration with various university units, and the implementation of effective marketing communications to enhance the university's public image and achieve strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of professional experience in marketing communications or related fields.
  • 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Experience in brand development/management in complex organizations.
  • Experience leading marketing, web, and digital teams.
  • Experience in budget development and oversight.
  • Expertise in market research and integrated marketing plans.
  • Experience in developing strategic marketing communications strategies.

  • Demonstrated web and digital marketing success.
  • Master's degree in marketing or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead University Relations' marketing, digital, and creative teams in design, production, and publications.
  • Support the Senior Vice Chancellor in strategic positioning and brand development.
  • Collaboratively create and assess marketing, communications, and public affairs goals and strategies.
  • Partner with other senior leaders to guide integrated marketing communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain branding and marketing communications strategies aligned with DU's strategic plan.
  • Mentor and empower creative teams to articulate brand strategy and represent university strategy.
  • Implement and manage university-wide integrated marketing plans and advertising programs.
  • Leverage research and analytics to measure and strengthen marketing efforts.
  • Engage with campus professionals to ensure compliance with brand guidelines and marketing policies.
  • Manage the marketing and brand budget and resources.
