About The Position

Willow Ridge Animal Hospital, a CareVet partner, has an exciting opportunity for a part-time veterinarian to join our thriving practice in Loves Park, IL. About Willow Ridge Animal Hospital: At Willow Ridge Animal Hospital, we’re proud to provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care to the pets of Rockford, Illinois and surrounding areas. Our small animal general practice is home to a dedicated and collaborative team, including two seasoned veterinarians who value teamwork, integrity, and personalized medicine. Our clinic is fully equipped with in-house labs, digital X-ray, dental X-ray, and an in-clinic pharmacy, enabling our doctors to diagnose and treat efficiently while maintaining excellent continuity of care. The Role: We’re seeking an experienced Part-Time Associate Veterinarian to join our team. This position includes extended evening hours a few days per week and some Saturdays, making it ideal for a confident DVM who enjoys working independently and managing a variety of medical and surgical cases. If you’re looking for a flexible schedule and a supportive environment where you can focus on practicing excellent medicine—without the full-time commitment—this could be the perfect fit. Life in Rockford, IL: Just 90 minutes northwest of Chicago, Rockford offers a wonderful balance of city amenities and small-town charm. Pay Range: $50,000-60,000 annually, depending on position, location, and experience. Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
  • Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
  • Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
  • Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
  • Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
  • Strong fondness and understanding of animals
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of animal behavior
  • Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals

Responsibilities

  • Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
  • Treat and dress wounds
  • Perform surgery on animals
  • Test for and vaccinate against diseases
  • Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
  • Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
  • Prescribe medication
  • Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care
