Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited AVMA institution
  • Active state veterinary license (or ability to obtain licensure)
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA and BNDD registration
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional, courteous demeanor with clients and team members
  • Ability to lift and carry patients or equipment up to 25 pounds independently, and over 25 pounds with assistance

Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat companion animals to determine the nature of illnesses or injuries
  • Operate diagnostic equipment, collect and analyze laboratory samples, and interpret test results
  • Develop and discuss treatment plans while educating pet owners on preventative care and medical options
  • Perform surgical procedures and prescribe medications as appropriate
  • Provide compassionate guidance and support to clients during end-of-life care decisions
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records
  • Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and all applicable statutes, policies, and regulatory standards
