Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Campus Libraries, the next Associate University Librarian (AUL) will be tasked with working effectively in a centralized library system while serving as a leader at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. The successful candidate will strategically develop resources, facilities, and services for students, faculty, and staff in support of the Rutgers-New Brunswick mission and academic master plan. The AUL manages a budget of more than $7 million and oversees personnel matters, including the recruitment, appointment, and evaluation of 25+ librarians and archivists, 40 full-time staff, and a sizeable pool of student and hourly support staff. The ideal candidate will bring an energetic, positive, solution-oriented sensibility to their work and will foster a culture of teamwork, systemwide collaboration, and the open exchange of ideas. The AUL has an active role within Rutgers-New Brunswick and works closely with campus stakeholders, including the chancellor, provost, deans of various schools, and directors of centers and institutes to ensure that the collections, resources, services, and spaces of the Libraries contribute to the overall mission and success of Rutgers University. The AUL - New Brunswick serves as an active member of the Rutgers University Libraries Leadership Team. In this senior leadership role, the incumbent contributes to strategic, data-driven decisions to provide effective stewardship of collections, ensure delivery of high-quality services, and to develop a proactive, inclusive organizational culture.
