About The Position

Steadily is hiring an Associate Underwriter to join our underwriting team in the Kansas City metro area. This is a great opportunity for an insurance professional with at least one year of experience who wants to deepen their underwriting expertise in a fast-growing insurtech company. You'll help us write profitable business, support our agents and customers, and ensure we deliver world-class service to landlords nationwide. You'll be surrounded by high-performing teammates and gain hands-on experience in modern underwriting practices at one of the most innovative companies in landlord insurance. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Overland Park, KS.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in an insurance environment, ideally in property & casualty
  • Basic understanding of insurance coverage, products, and carrier rating engines; experience with dwelling fire or homeowners underwriting a plus
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; able to remain calm, clear, and professional under pressure
  • Strong computer skills; quick to learn new software and adept with online tools
  • Thrives under pressure, manages a large workload independently, and never says "that's not my job"
  • You're hungry to accelerate your career growth at an early-stage tech company; you're motivated to hustle and make an impact

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply the underwriting appetite and guidelines of our programs - we aim to say yes whenever possible while mitigating risk
  • Work closely with underwriters on endorsements, inspections, renewals, applications, and quotes
  • Provide timely support to internal and external agents, often addressing time-sensitive requests that help define our brand
  • Process work across internal systems including Salesforce; quickly become a subject matter expert on our platforms
  • Troubleshoot complex customer service and underwriting issues such as billing, inspections, nuanced customer situations, and risk profiles
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy in documenting underwriting files in our policy administration system
