About The Position

This job is responsible for performing basic underwriting functions under approved guidelines for small to mid-size businesses. The responsibilities of this position include learning underwriting concepts and the business of Delta Dental to make sound risk and financial decisions on Delta's commercial book of business.

Requirements

• 0+ with Bachelor’s degree. Candidates with proven related experience may be considered for this position.
• One year or more of experience in underwriting or a related field.
• Intermediate communication skills, written and verbal.
• Intermediate mathematics knowledge.
• Candidate/ employee must be detail-oriented with analytical and problem solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Current Dental Terminology ("CDT") codes and dental nomenclature is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive client-specific experience analysis to provide appropriate rates based on risk assessment and evaluation of smaller or less complex cases.
• Works with fellow underwriting team members through underwriting peer review process.
• Advises and provides guidance to sales and other internal customers on the underwriting rationale.
