About The Position

Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, located in Bakersfield, California, is an acute psychiatric and behavioral 90 bed facility situated on 8.8 acres. The hospital offers inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults needing mental/behavioral health, chemical dependency, and co-occurring disorders treatment through medically supervised detoxification. The Associate Therapist counsels individuals and groups on psychological or emotional problems like stress, substance abuse, mental/behavioral health issues, and family situations, developing and implementing therapeutic treatment plans. This role provides psychotherapeutic services to patients and their families and serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team to support the organization's treatment program and philosophy, ensuring quality treatment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Masters Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field (MSW, MFT)
  • At least two (2) years experience
  • California issued associate level registration or higher

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a mental healthcare hospital environment where attention was focused on human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, or other mental healthcare situations
  • One (1) year experience in a behavioral or psychiatric setting (as part of the two years total experience)

Responsibilities

  • Counsels individuals and groups regarding psychological or emotional problems such as stress, substance abuse, mental or behavioral health issues and/or family situations
  • Develops and implements therapeutic treatment plans
