About The Position

As an Associate Technical Designer – Apparel, you will be responsible for supporting the Apparel Technical Design department in various areas from the initial stage of the style to final approval for production. This includes preparing for fittings, working in FlexPLM system, tracking and logging samples, updating Tech Packs, taking photographs, and organizing samples. You will grow in skillsets related to garment construction, functional fit, aesthetic fit, and sizing as it pertains to the design intention. This role interacts with Product Development, Design, Product Line Management, and Overseas offices. We celebrate diversity--of your background, your experiences and your unique identity. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Manufacturing, Product Development, Technical Design, Patternmaking, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years’ work experience in a related field, including experience with fit, spec, patterns, fabrics, and commenting preferred.
  • Experience working for a technical or outdoor brand is preferred.
  • Extensive computer experience including, but not limited to, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • FLEX PLM software preferred.
  • Opititex experience is a plus.
  • Comfortable with multitasking and handling changing priorities.
  • Positive and collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities

  • Support and/or own assigned style workload by creating and updating technical specification packages for Men’s, Women’s, Women’s Plus, and All Gender apparel and accessories.
  • Assist with documentation of fit, sizing, and construction updates throughout the entire product life cycle.
  • Measure all samples to be fit and enter results into FlexPLM.
  • Organize, label, file digital assets and samples.
  • Review China PD notes to fits.
  • Track and log samples.
  • Communicate via email with internal and cross-functional teams (US and International).
  • Assist with scheduling fittings for internal and external attendees.
  • Participate in departmental and cross-functional meetings as appropriate.
  • Follow up with China PD, and/or QC team on any fit issues or concerns.
  • Clearly communicate constraints and provide options.
  • Support competitor sample reviews.
  • Support block creation work and other special projects such as construction toolbox creation.
