About The Position

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is looking for an Associate Structures Mechanic to join our Executive Fleet team in San Antonio, TX. This position involves performing close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas. The role requires locating blind holes necessary for the installation of new structural items to existing structures, as well as performing sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structures in accordance with standard repair processes. The Associate Structures Mechanic will read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modifications and repairs. Additionally, the position involves using tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts, troubleshooting mechanical components, and determining the functionality of basic electrical systems. The role also requires maintaining necessary certifications, licenses, and permits, and ensuring a safe working environment through Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems applications.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless.
  • 4+ years of experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.
  • 4+ years of experience using structures hand tools such as drills, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns.
  • 4+ years of experience working heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening structures to aircraft.
  • Ability to work variable shifts to support mission requirements and workload.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Depot Level/Heavy Structures maintenance.
  • Experience with Executive Fleet aircraft maintenance and operations.
  • Operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas.
  • Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structure.
  • Perform sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure in accordance with standard repair processes.

  • Troubleshoot aircraft mechanical components and replace components as necessary.
  • Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests.
  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.
  • Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.
  • Ensure a safe working environment via Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems applications.
