About The Position

Parsons is now hiring for an Associate Structural Engineer to join our Chicago office! In this role, you will gain exposure to the production of drawings and calculations for the design of major regional highway and rail bridge projects within a world-class infrastructure team.

Requirements

• Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil of Structural Engineering
• Completed 3+ year of studies with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
• Must have completed courses such as structural analysis, steel or concrete design, geotechnical engineering, etc.
• Previous relevant structural internship experience
• Proficient in CAD software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of structural analysis software
• Previous internship experience in bridge design, roadway design, or construction inspection
• Experience with AASHTO LRFD or AREMA codes

Responsibilities

• Use CAD to prepare engineering plans, sections and details starting from sketches and other general design information.
• Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
• Become familiar with various standards and codes.
• Apply codes to check compliance of designs with applicable criteria.
