About The Position

Based in Downtown Los Angeles, Oaktree is seeking an associate to work within the Strategic Credit Group for a 2-year program. This is a sector generalist role with the potential for specialization in the future. The Strategic Credit mandate is highly flexible and, as such, the role will require analysis of a variety of asset classes including, but not limited to, secured debt and equity-linked securities.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of experience as an analyst with a top investment bank within merchant banking or leveraged finance
• Outstanding financial modeling and analytical skills
• Demonstrated competency in financial statement analysis, business valuation, accounting and finance
• Experience analyzing fixed income a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Analyzing company financial statements
• Developing detailed financial models with projections
• Assessing company capital structures and reviewing related legal documents
• Analyzing company valuations using various macroeconomic and business specific assumptions
• Conducting interviews with industry experts and company management
• Performing qualitative business and industry due diligence
• Assessing strengths and weaknesses of various businesses
• Performing comparable company analyses
• Developing comprehensive investment thesis and memos
• Presenting investment ideas to portfolio management
• Participating in deal structuring, legal documentation and negotiations
• Monitoring the performance of existing portfolio investments

Benefits

• Base salary of $150,000-$160,000 plus a discretionary bonus
