Under the direction and supervision of Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the Department Manager, the Associate Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the following: assemble clean instruments into specialized sets, package or wrap instruments for sterilization, maintains an inventory of sterile supplies on core carts. Rotates in all specialty stations, including Decontam and Sterilizers. Responsible for cleaning and decontamination of surgical instruments after surgery cases are completed. Also responsible for using the tools that the medical center provides to complete all tasks. This includes utilizing the SPM system or manual system. Under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services, the Sterile Processing Technician is able to independently apply surgical asepsis principles through surgical techniques via sterilization in the process and preparation of surgical instrumentation. Also independently responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, and processing surgical instruments, equipment, and reusable supplies. Functions as a team member of the Sterile Processing Department. Reports to the Manager of Sterile Processing.

Nice To Haves

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Experience in a healthcare setting or dealing with the public
  • Recent experience in processing surgical instruments/equipment in all specialties
  • Medical terminology experience
  • Medical supply experience
  • 1 year of sterile processing experience
