The Associate Sourcing Manager, Commodities will take primary leadership for managing over $50M in spend, focusing predominantly on agricultural commodities. This role involves developing and implementing sourcing strategies that provide a competitive advantage in a complex and volatile supply chain, as well as managing basis risk and supplier relationships. The position is based in Orrville, OH, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring 30% in-office presence (Tues-Thurs on core weeks).

  • Be responsible for the procurement and supply chain management of corn, wheat, and other commodity categories as assigned.
  • Utilize robust strategic sourcing methodologies to develop category strategies, source raw materials, negotiate pricing, and manage suppliers to deliver best-in-class execution with minimal supply risk.
  • Utilize independent analysis, supplier intelligence, and third-party information to determine market view.
  • Manage basis risk and work closely with the Commodity Risk Management (CRM) team to understand financial derivatives and the commodity markets that drive pricing.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and oversee the supply chain from origin to manufacturing factories, ensuring continuous supply while meeting all quality, inventory, and service level requirements.
  • Act as market expert for internal and external stakeholders for assigned categories.
  • Drive continuous improvement of material quality, logistics performance, and specification management.
  • Effectively negotiate commercial terms and conditions, and be accountable for cash delivery and improvement in payment terms/DPO.
  • Build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide analytical and systems support to the Commodities group as needed.
  • Act as a liaison to the Corporate Sustainability team for commodity-based sustainability initiatives.
  • Lead Transformation and Synergy Initiatives for assigned categories.
  • Lead cross-functional projects related to cost savings, supply risk management, reformulations, or other strategic goals for assigned categories.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives and optimize inbound supply chains.
  • Work with finance partners to provide reliable and accurate forward price forecasts.
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Purchasing, or Economics.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or commodity-based role.
  • Ability to travel 10%.
  • Experience in a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) company or Agricultural production company is a plus.
  • Experience with futures and basis risk management, especially agricultural commodities is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate and influence business decisions.
  • Strong relationship management skills, both internal and external.
