Our Solution Engineering team is obsessed with serving our customers. We are looking for an Associate Solution Engineer, a technical “Jack/Jill of All Trades” that loves figuring out “how things work.” As an Associate Solution Engineer, you'll become an expert on the inner workings of the Appian platform and gain full-stack experience that will be valuable for any technical career. You'll have the opportunity to work with every layer of the Appian platform; from data analysis to creative problem solving and you'll tackle the most challenging technical problems while mitigating all of our customers' concerns. This role specializes in technical customer support for our clients that use Appian and while it is a very technical role, this is not a traditional software engineering position. This role is based at our Headquarters in McLean, Virginia. Appian was built on a culture of in-person collaboration, which we believe is a key driver of our mission to be the best. Employees hired for this position are expected to be in the office 5 days a week to foster that culture and ensure we continue to thrive through shared ideas and teamwork. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any Engineering discipline, Information Technology, or similar degree program.
  • Flexibility to provide after-hours support is required, including one on-call rotation per quarter (every 1 - 15 weeks).
  • Strong interest in software development (but not wanting to focus on coding all day).
  • Interest in data analytics.
  • Interest or experience in programming/scripting languages (e.g. Java, Perl, Ruby, C#, PHP).
  • Interest or experience with RDBMS platforms (e.g. MySql, Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Interest or experience with systems administration (e.g. Linux, Windows).

  • Provide exceptional, world-class support (verbal/written) to our customers and our highest stakeholders around the globe.
  • Tackle technical challenges and communicate your work across a variety of departments.
  • Work closely with our customers to help lead continual improvement in the availability, performance, functionality and security of our platform.
