This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization. As a member of a 40-person team, this individual will be providing system engineering functions for the design, development, and maintenance of complex, multi-tiered application software systems used to support the command and control of space vehicles. The system engineer will work day-to-day with software and test engineers in order to implement, test, and document new features and improvements for both web services and applications supporting distributed computing solutions. The systems engineer will work under general supervision to complete assigned engineering tasks. The systems engineer will lead team activities, including daily scrums, code reviews, design sessions, retrospectives, and demonstrations. In addition, the system engineer will collaborate with program level system engineers for higher level design and Conops development. Opportunity for positional growth as a technical leader.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in systems engineering
  • Experience interfacing with end customers

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 2+ years of experience in designing software systems from customer and user requirements
  • 2+ years of experience using Agile software development processes
  • Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle
  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle
  • Ability to understand the big picture and inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area
  • Experience with space-based technologies
  • SAFe Agile certifications including Scrum Master, Product Owner, Product Manager, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Agile activities including daily scrums, retrospectives, PO sync, and PI Planning
  • Develop and maintain requirements documentation to specify system Conops and performance
  • Collaborate with test team to identify test procedures for code coverage and thread functionality
  • Develop and maintain agile backlog of capabilities that drive software development execution
  • Meet regularly with customers and users to facilitate software system quality, performance, and functionality
  • Adhere to team development standards for engineering processes, tools, and metrics
