First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking a collaborative, analytical Associate Software Engineer to join our API & Integrations team. In this role, the individual is responsible for front-end UI development, back-end API development, and DevOps infrastructure. Develop innovative financial and banking-based web applications that positively impact customer experiences and digital interactions with First Hawaiian Bank. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (hours may vary) Compensation: The annual salary range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000 / annually; commensurate with experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related discipline; or equivalent experience required
  • 1-3 years of experience programming in a modern programming language preferred
  • Hands-on experience through coursework or internship
  • Experience writing code for web applications
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs
  • Experience thoroughly documenting projects and code repositories
  • Experience with either relational (e.g., Postgres, SQL, MariaDB) or non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, NoSQL)
  • Experience contributing to production web applications and platforms
  • Source / version control experience with Git
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and embrace new technologies
  • Strong understanding of HTTP protocols
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests
  • High-level knowledge of complete technology stack across front-end, back-end and infrastructure
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
