The Associate Software Developer applies basic professional knowledge, skills and training to contribute to developing, testing, debugging, maintaining and documenting components of information systems applications. This role defines user requirements, procedures, and processes to optimize performance efficiency. The Associate Software Developer performs routine and simple maintenance, problem resolution and enhancements to software applications. They design, code, test, debug, document and maintain simple to moderately complex programs, using detailed specifications prepared by senior colleagues. They analyze and offer improvement suggestions to existing system logic difficulties, assist in the development and documentation of user manuals, partner with technical staff to learn and understand problems with software, and adhere to defined programming standards and structured coding techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a directly related field
  • Zero to two years of professional IT experience
  • May use CASE tools, knowledge of extract tools, 3GLs, SQL, ProC
  • Knowledge of C++, visual basic, Java development tools, or other application programming language
  • Knowledge of structured analysis and technical design techniques

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to developing, testing, debugging, maintaining and documenting components of information systems applications
  • Define user requirements, procedures, and processes to optimize performance efficiency
  • Perform routine and simple maintenance, problem resolution and enhancements to software applications
