About The Position

To secure technical infrastructure and workloads by designing, and operationalizing capabilities; support the implementation of continuous security monitoring practices along with threat and vulnerability prevention, detection, and response capabilities. Collaborate with engineers, internal teams, and vendors to support all phases of product integration, operations, and maintenance to ensure a secure Navy Federal environment. Conduct routine work assignments of limited scope and complexity under close supervision. Entry level professional with developing skill set and a basic understanding of procedures and techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
  • College/university degree or 1-2 years of experience in cyber security
  • Familiarity with system administration, database administration, network engineering, software engineering, or software development
  • Familiarity with SEIM/SOAR technologies
  • Familiarity with security operations and cyber-attack methods
  • Exposure to security engineering with the ability to design and implement secure systems and network
  • Familiarity with multiple cyber security detection/technologies/tools
  • Familiarity with a variety of cyber architectures
  • Understanding of networking principles. Subnetting, OSI layers, network protocols, etc.
  • Problem-Solving: Curious, analytical, and willing to learn new technologies.
  • Customer Service Skills: Ability to explain technical issues in simple terms.
  • Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability.
  • One year of experience as a network engineer (can be substituted with two years of education in related field)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing Palo Alto or Checkpoint Firewalls.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (Python) to automation tasks.
  • Network security certification (CCNA, Sec+, or Palo Alto/Checkpoint firewall certification)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing security standards and verifying controls for hardening infrastructure and development pipelines
  • Support the implementation of monitoring and incident response patterns for the security operations center
  • Collaborate with threat vulnerability management and risk management teams to secure the network environment
  • Help implement monitoring and performance metrics to ensure service efficiency and effectiveness
  • Work with internal security teams and vendors to implement security controls
  • Assist in managing reported system application vulnerabilities through remediation and maintenance
  • Support and participate in team projects and initiatives
