About The Position

Kinetic IT is seeking an Associate Security Analyst to join our team, supporting a key customer environment. This is a great opportunity to build your cyber security career within a hands-on security operations role. You’ll support threat detection, incident response, and ongoing monitoring, while gaining exposure to leading security tools and frameworks in a collaborative team environment. This position is based onsite fulltime at our customer site in Perth CBD.

Requirements

• Qualification or certification in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related field
• Knowledge of security operations, threat detection, and incident response (academic or practical)
• Exposure to tools such as Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Tenable, or ServiceNow (through study, labs, or internships)
• Understanding of security concepts such as vulnerability management, alert triage, and blue team practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and triaging security alerts using Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, and ASD-aligned alerting frameworks
• Analysing security data to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities using KQL and tools such as Tenable
• Responding to security incidents, including investigation, containment, and remediation, while managing tickets in ServiceNow
• Supporting the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and controls
• Collaborating with internal IT and security teams to strengthen security measures across the environment
• Documenting incidents, findings, and remediation activities to support continuous improvement
• Participation in a shared on-call roster (approximately one week in every four)
