About The Position

The Seasonal Strain Change Vaccines (SSCV) group is seeking a motivated Associate Scientist with molecular biology experience to support several vaccine programs. In this position, you will work on projects involving DNA synthesis, molecular cloning and plasmid characterization using a high-throughput platform while working in a very dynamic and collaborative environment. The selected candidate will directly interact with their manager and other group members on a regular basis as well as functional lines within Pfizer Vaccines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Bioengineering, Life Sciences or related scientific field with 0 - 2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Previous knowledge and work experience in molecular biology.
  • Proficiency in multi-tasking and troubleshooting with strong attention to detail and scientific curiosity.
  • Ability to follow established laboratory protocols and initiative to develop new assays and methods.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively under close supervision with regular performance evaluations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a very dynamic team and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant sequence editing software (i.e., GraphPad & Geneious).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree with 0+ years of experience.
  • Experience in liquid handler workstations for high-throughput screening purposes.
  • Knowledge of working safely in a BSL2 environment using proper aseptic technique.

Responsibilities

  • Design and characterize/validate plasmid constructs using different molecular biology approaches.
  • Utilize high-throughput instruments such as the Hamilton Microlab Star liquid handler, Celigo and/or Cytation 5 cytometers, Lunatic spectrophotometer and KingFisher Apex purification system.
  • Design and characterize plasmid constructs using different molecular cloning approaches.
  • Regularly present data and progress to colleagues and senior management.
  • Acquire laboratory supplies, reagents, and chemicals necessary for routine laboratory operations.
  • Oversee and streamline inventory management across various lab areas.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks in compliance with the Pfizer Laboratory Notebook Policy.
