About The Position

ECT seeks to hire additional associate scientists, ideally in Texas. Selected candidates will join a dynamic, regional team of ecologists, wetland biologists, species experts, and market specialists, focused on a variety of environmental topics and opportunities that matter most today. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of natural resources consulting background with experience related to wetland delineations, botanical surveys, threatened and endangered species surveys, threatened and endangered species best management practices, native vegetation identification, and regulatory environmental permitting support. Regular site visits and travel are a part of this role; however, travel type and location vary based by team and will be discussed during interview engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related environmental science with 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience related to aquatic resource delineation, botanical surveys, threatened and endangered species surveys, threatened and endangered species best management practices, native vegetation identification, and state and federal environmental permitting experience required.
  • Experience and knowledge regarding relevant regulatory landscape and technical applications.
  • Strong technical writing skills and QA/QC of data and reporting experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fieldwork, planning, scheduling, and client and technical support for aquatic resource delineations, threatened and endangered species, and additional environmental resources.
  • Stay current with federal and regional regulations, develop agency relationships, and develop the ability to represent ECT as a professional expert.
  • Project travel – local, regional and/or national depending on the role. Most candidates would expect regular site and stakeholder visits as a part of this role.
  • Provide task assistance to project managers and client support efforts.
  • Meet deliverable schedules, schedule staff for projects, and adhere to budgets.
  • Support project pursuits through proposal development and collaboration.
  • Participate in team building including internal training, quality review, and mentorship.
  • Work independently, solve problems, navigate, and learn new and challenging project tasks
  • Collaborate with the larger team to schedule project tasks.
