About the position

The Safety Pharmacology department plays an especially influential role in all Abbvie discovery projects by providing both standard in vitro and in vivo cardiovascular and neurobehavioral safety screening as well as fit-for-purpose assay development to aid in critical decision making. Safety pharmacology at Abbvie focuses primarily on cardiovascular safety, but our wide variety of expertise allows us to look at several organ systems including central nervous and gastrointestinal systems and investigate the mechanistic underpinnings of observed toxicities as needed. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our safety pharmacology team.

Responsibilities

  • Running, analyzing, and reporting in vivo and ex vivo rodent cardiovascular assays.
  • Conducting neurobehavioral assays in rodent models.
  • Performing gastrointestinal assays as part of safety pharmacology studies.
  • Assisting senior scientists with various projects in a collaborative, team-based setting.
  • Learning and implementing new experimental protocols.

Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., biology, pharmacology, neuroscience).
  • Experience with in vivo and ex vivo experimental techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in cardiovascular safety pharmacology.
  • Familiarity with neurobehavioral testing in rodent models.
  • Knowledge of gastrointestinal physiology and pharmacology.
