Denali Therapeutics is seeking an Associate Scientist in Bioprocess Development to join our team in South San Francisco, CA. This role is pivotal in our mission to develop breakthrough therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, which represent one of the largest medical challenges of our time. The successful candidate will be involved in designing, executing, and interpreting experiments related to shake flask and lab-scale bioreactor fed-batch productions, which are essential for process development. The Associate Scientist will also support the transfer of upstream processes from development into clinical manufacturing, ensuring a seamless transition and adherence to established protocols. In addition to process development, the Associate Scientist will cross-functionally support cell line development activities. This includes tasks such as transfection, selection, single cell sorting, clone imaging, clone selection, and clone banking for various pipeline projects. The role requires maintaining and troubleshooting key cell culture instruments, including Vi-Cell, Nova Flex2, Octet, and bench-top bioreactors. The candidate will be responsible for authoring technical development reports and tech transfer documents while maintaining an accurate laboratory notebook to document all findings and processes. Continuous improvement is a core value at Denali, and the Associate Scientist will contribute to the enhancement of upstream platform processes and evaluate new technologies as needed. Rigorously following established workflows and contributing to ongoing improvements will be essential to the success of this role. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mammalian cell and molecular biology, as well as bioprocess engineering concepts, and will be able to adapt to rapid changes in project priorities while executing projects with ambitious timelines.
