This is an Internal Employment Opportunity. The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is seeking an Associate School Head for Graduate Programs. This is a part-time (.80 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. This position provides leadership and administrative support and advice to the School Head of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The primary responsibilities of this position lie in leading the graduate programs of the school. This position serves at the pleasure of the School Head.   • Provide leadership and oversight of EECS graduate programs.
  • Coordinate and oversee EECS graduate program processes include graduate program curriculum, research rotations, and graduate student-faculty matching, program assessment and review, and graduate recruitment and admissions.
  • Coordinate and oversee professional development of graduate students.
  • Collaborate with graduate students and faculty to develop and implement initiatives, policies, and processes that promote equity and inclusion.
  • Oversee TA evaluation planning, training, and other support.
  • Provide leadership over several graduate events including the School's graduate visitation recruiting event, new graduate student orientation, and graduate student training.
  • Travel may be required for recruiting purposes.
  • Assist the School Head in strategic matters regarding EECS graduate programs including development and implementation of applicable components of COE strategic plan; assist School Head in graduate affairs issues such as academic progression and Graduate Assistant personnel issues; oversee appointment and assignment of GTA positions for EECS courses.
  • Interface with the OSU College of Engineering and OSU university administration on all graduate program matters.
  • Serve on EECS Leadership Team; oversee EECS Graduate Program Committees, support and provide leadership as requested by School Head.
  • Facilitate an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, staff, and faculty.
  • Supervise and/or lead work of Assistant Director of Graduate Programs, 1-2 Graduate Advisors, and 1-2 classified positions.
  • Supervision includes the preparation of position descriptions and work plans, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work, performance appraisals, and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing their productivity and evaluations.
  • Make decisions on hiring, termination and pay adjustments.
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Tenured Associate or full Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
  • Demonstrated record of advancing inclusive excellence.
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
