About The Position

The Associate Rural Carrier (ARC) position at the United States Postal Service (USPS) involves delivering packages and mail along a prescribed rural route, primarily on Sundays and observed holidays. This role is essential for ensuring that postal services are maintained in rural areas, providing customers with reliable delivery and collection services. ARCs are non-career employees who may also be required to work on Saturdays, depending on the needs of the USPS. The position requires candidates to have a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, as driving is a significant part of the job. Candidates must also be prepared to provide their own vehicle for deliveries if an employer-provided vehicle is not available, and they will receive an Equipment Maintenance Allowance (EMA) if they do so. During the onboarding period, ARCs must be available for required training on weekdays, and the hours for this position can vary. The job entails loading packages in delivery sequence, sorting mail, delivering packages to customers, and providing routine information concerning postal matters. ARCs must also ensure mail security at all times and may be required to handle accountable mail, which involves collecting receipts and payments from customers. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings, and ARCs must be physically capable of handling mail and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds. The USPS emphasizes the importance of maintaining a neat and professional appearance while interacting with the public. Successful candidates will undergo a background check and must pass a pre-employment drug screening. This position is part-time, with expected hours ranging from 20 to 40 per week, and the pay is set at $20.38 per hour, paid bi-weekly. The USPS is an equal opportunity employer and provides reasonable accommodations for applicants as needed.
