The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMM) is an international leader in medical and scientific training, biomedical research, and patient care. It is the medical school for the Mount Sinai Health System, which includes seven hospital campuses, and has more than 5,000 faculty and nearly 2,000 students, residents and fellows. The Associate Researcher I is a laboratory research position, responsible for independent conduct of routine and standardized experiments. The individual assists in the interpretation of research outcomes, performs assays to support research studies, and assists in the clerical and supply aspects of the laboratory environment. Research Project description: this position will support researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine by providing microbiome technologies to support clinical and pre-clinical studies including the processing of human microbiome samples, preclinical models in gnotobiotic mice, high throughput bacterial culturing, immunology, data analysis, and GMP live biotherapeutic product manufacturing. Technical duties: Responsibilities of this position will include mouse/human microbiome work and molecular biology/immunology experimentation. There will be substantial opportunities to gain both independent and team-based research experiences. Goals and/or outcomes of the research project are to advance microbiome research to clinical translation through human observational studies, mechanistic in vivo and in vitro models, and human interventional trials.
