The Columbia Center for Translational Immunology is looking for an Associate Research Scientist (ARS) to lead an exciting transplantation immunology project in the Nowak lab. This role will primarily relate to ongoing and planned experiments for the next year, such as xeno heart and allo liver transplantation. The candidate will be responsible for the xeno heart project and will be involved in allo liver and xeno kidney projects. The responsibilities will include performing surgery and posttransplant animal care as well as planning, execution, and interpretation of all related assays and examinations with close collaboration with our technicians. Even if involved in projects with different investigators, the candidate will stay in the Nowak Lab under the PI's supervision. Key responsibilities include developing and following protocols and working independently while collaborating with other team members. The researcher will also provide training and assist with other lab needs for the project. The research will take place in the Nowak lab in the Black Building, assigned to a designated bench and desktop station, as well as in the tissue culture room. The time allocation for this position includes seventy percent for experimental work, twenty percent for writing reports and presenting data, and ten percent for teaching and other academic tasks. The position will report directly to Dr. Nowak.
