Role: Associate Rehabilitation Counselor Term: Part-time (16-20) hours Rate: $17.37/hr Location: Onsite in Dunkirk NY (Various sites). Travel: Candidates must have clean, valid license for company and/or personal vehicle use. Work Schedule: Thursday 3pm-7pm Friday 1pm-5pm Saturday 9am-5pm Candidates must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check through the NYS Office of Mental Health. JOB FUNCTION: This individual will provide case management, rehabilitative, and restorative services to residents within our Treatment Apartment program. Counselors are responsible for teaching, coaching, and monitoring residents’ living activities in an apartment setting, in order to develop skills, abilities, and experience that will facilitate greater opportunity for the resident to live independently.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Candidates must have clean, valid license for company and/or personal vehicle use.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check through the NYS Office of Mental Health.
  • Compassion, sensitivity and understanding for individuals suffering from mental illness and substance abuse.
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
  • Be able to travel to and among various facilities that are multileveled with stairs only.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • May be required to use personal vehicle for programmatic purposes.
  • Criminal Background check approved by NYS Office of Mental Health

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Human Services and/or one year experience working with people with mental illness preferred.
  • Prefer a working knowledge of current issues and concerns of people with mental illness, rehabilitative training methods, and community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management, rehabilitative, and restorative services to residents within our Treatment Apartment program.

  • Help maintain cleanliness of the residence
