About The Position

Unilever International (UI) is a key part of Unilever, focusing on expanding the company's reach into new markets and ensuring compliance with local regulations. The UI Regulatory Affairs team is responsible for managing regulatory and product compliance for the UI portfolio and innovation projects across the Americas, including the USA, Canada, and LATAM. This role involves collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure that products meet both local legislation and Unilever's internal standards. The position requires a proactive approach to regulatory advocacy and the ability to navigate complex compliance landscapes.

Requirements

  • Fully operational knowledge in Regulatory Affairs for cosmetics in the North America region.
  • Working knowledge of R&D operations: formulations, products, raw materials, etc.
  • Strong ability to design processes and spread best practices.
  • Strong business acumen, agility, and personal mastery.
  • Independent problem-solving personality, capable of delegating and working well with multi-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage senior leaders and enthuse operational teams.
  • Ability to work flexibly and agile.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluent in English and preferably also fluent in Spanish.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, science, or related disciplines.
  • 4-6 years of experience handling cosmetics regulations in a region/category.
  • Excellence in verbal/written communication skills in English is a must.
  • Being multilingual is highly desirable and ability to work with people across cultures.
  • Multi-tasking ability and ability to work independently with cross-functional team members.
  • Strong business understanding is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the majority of Unilever digital tools will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain processes to support UI business in product compliance assurance for PC & BW products in Americas.
  • Build and maintain a strong network of global contacts in R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, Legal, SERS, etc., to facilitate assurance of product compliance for UI.
  • Work with external experts to create an ecosystem of Regulatory Partners (RPs) and continuously monitor their performance for Americas.
  • Evaluate and advise on Prop 65 requirements and contaminants monitoring for UI innovation/renovation projects.
  • Coordinate and ensure compliance of existing portfolio of UI products affected by new regulation changes in a geography.
  • Act as the first point of contact for any regulatory queries for PC & BW products for UI Europe, UK, and Middle East teams.
  • Embrace and incorporate digital processes for Regulatory Affairs.
