About The Position

The Associate Recruiting Manager – Litigation & Trial Lateral Associates is an integral part of Latham’s Associate Recruiting team. This role will be responsible for recruiting and hiring of top talent for all associate-level positions at Latham & Watkins, while providing market intelligence and strategic guidance to Practice Group Chairs (PGCs) and collaborating with department, office, and practice leaders firmwide to develop and implement tailored strategies for lateral associate recruitment, positioning Latham at the forefront of strategic growth in the legal market. This role will be located in our Washington, D.C. office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Requirements

  • Exhibit excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to organize, plan, problem‑solve, make decisions, and interact effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Possess proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Office, database management tools, and applicant tracking systems, with the ability to conduct analyses and prepare reports
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in legal recruiting or a professional services environment
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of cumulative experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a related field, preferably

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to recruit qualified lateral associate candidates and managing the recruitment process from start to finish, with a focus on supporting the practice group model
  • Managing and evaluating relationships with search firms and external vendors, ensuring competitive fee structures and continuous process improvement
  • Preparing and communicating statistics, marketing materials, and progress reports to ensure alignment with practice group needs
  • Organizing, delegating, and coordinating staff work by managing workflow and conducting performance evaluations to ensure effective leadership
  • Promoting effective work practices by working as a team member and demonstrating respect for others
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
