About The Position

The Associate Quality Engineer - Fluids and Technical Cleanliness is responsible for systematically investigating returned materials and line call incidents. This role involves conducting zero-hour failure evaluations, supporting Conformance of Production (COP) and gap analysis, and investigating plant quality issues. The engineer will also support part inspections for Design and Supplier Development, analyze warranty data, and execute special projects. Additionally, the position requires maintaining lab equipment and interpreting test results independently, participating in cross-functional meetings, and reporting KPIs to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Chemical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical, quality, or chemical engineering; or 7 years of mechanical, quality, or chemical engineering experience.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship.

  • Knowledge of SAP, Windchill PLM, CreoView, Visio, Access, and Project.
  • Experience with industrial chemical fluids and cleanliness evaluation methods (e.g., ISO 16232 or VDA 19.1).

Responsibilities

  • Systematically investigate returned materials and line call incidents.
  • Conduct zero-hour failure evaluations and support COP and gap analysis.
  • Investigate plant quality issues and support part inspections for Design and Supplier Development.
  • Analyze warranty data, support field test success criteria, and execute special projects.
  • Maintain lab equipment and interpret test results independently.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and report KPIs to management.
  • Monitor and assess condition of production fluids, including machining coolants, lubricants, engine coolants, and fuel used in manufacturing and testing.
  • Establish and maintain sampling protocols and analysis criteria for fluid health and contamination control.
  • Lead efforts in identifying root causes of fluid-related failures and propose corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production to optimize fluid life, usage, and safety.
  • Support and oversee technical cleanliness evaluations for critical engine parts during and after manufacturing processes.
  • Recommend process improvements based on analytical results and industry standards for cleanliness and fluid management.
  • Support Manager of Reliability Engineering in maintaining project timelines and tracking tasks.
  • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and adhere to the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
  • Perform special projects as required.
