The Associate Purchasing Agent is an entry-level position within the Information Services department of the Metropolitan Council, which serves the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. This role is crucial in supporting the procurement of materials and services in compliance with Council policy, as well as state and federal laws. The Associate Purchasing Agent will assist in managing procurement processes, including technology requests, requisitions, and the necessary procurement documentation required internally. This position is designed to provide guidance and support to the Information Services and procurement/contracts teams, ensuring that all procurement activities are conducted efficiently and effectively. In this role, the Associate Purchasing Agent will administer the requisition to purchase order process for information services orders. This includes entering and reviewing all requests for accuracy, such as account coding, fund availability, and proper authorization. The agent will be responsible for requesting and comparing quotes from multiple vendors, expediting purchase orders, and tracking any overdue orders. Additionally, the role involves resolving receiving issues for materials and managing the return of any discrepant materials to suppliers. The Associate Purchasing Agent will also process hardware and software annual renewals in a timely manner and assist in resolving invoice and accounting discrepancies. Tracking budgets under the Information Services area is essential to ensure that funds are available for expenditures prior to processing orders. The position offers a competitive salary range of $32.09 - $48.44 hourly, translating to an annual salary of $66,747 - $100,755.
