The Child Mind Institute offers a one-year professional training program designed to prepare candidates for a successful career in clinical child and adolescent psychology. The position is housed in the Anxiety and Mood Disorders Center, which offers innovative treatment services for children and adolescents with anxiety disorders through several specialized treatment programs, including the Social Anxiety Program [https://childmind.org/center/social-anxiety-groups/], Selective Mutism Service [https://childmind.org/care/areas-of-expertise/anxiety-disorders-center/selective-mutism-service/], and the Trauma and Resilience Service [https://childmind.org/care/areas-of-expertise/anxiety-disorders-center/trauma-and-resilience-service/]. The Center’s clinicians are experts in the field in providing comprehensive clinical care using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including exposure and response prevention (ERP), Parent Child Interaction Therapy adapted for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM) and other evidence-based treatments. The Anxiety [https://childmind.org/care/areas-of-expertise/mood-disorders-center/] and Mood Disorders Center also offers cutting edge, evidence-based, tailored treatment for children, adolescents, and young adults suffering from mood disorders and related concerns. These include depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, suicidality and self-harm, and emotional dysregulation, as well as comorbid problems such as anxiety, substance use, exposure to trauma, and executive functioning deficits. The center includes our comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy [https://childmind.org/care/areas-of-expertise/mood-disorders-center/dialectical-behavior-therapy-california/] (DBT) program for children, preadolescents, adolescents, and young adults. Clinicians work intensively with children, parents, and teachers, and utilize a wide range of evidence-based intervention approaches, including CBT, DBT, Behavioral Activation, mindfulness-based interventions, and Behavioral Parent Training (BPT) tailored for individuals with mood disorders. The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in all facets of our multidisciplinary group practice. Reporting to the Senior Clinical Psychologist, this is a full-time and exempt position in office 4 days per week and 1 day remote.
