About The Position

Clyde & Co seeks an Attorney with 2-3 years of first-party and/or third-party insurance coverage experience to work with our insurance coverage practice group. We are looking for a bright attorney and an excellent writer who is highly motivated and proactive with their caseload-someone who will be able to act independently; be comfortable taking on a leadership role with their cases; and be eager to work on complex insurance coverage litigation matters . This practice represents domestic and international insurers and focuses on both complex insurance coverage analyses, and disputes involving property, time element, CGL coverage, and bad faith claims.

Requirements

  • J.D.
  • 2-3 years of first-party and/or third-party insurance coverage experience
  • Admitted to practice or willing to gain admission to practice in Georgia;
  • Exceptional legal writing and communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Strong work ethic and a sense of ownership over work;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects;
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • SCandidate should be able to independently manage workload and deadlines for multiple complex litigations simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Litigation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing first- and third-party insurance policies, drafting coverage opinions and providing coverage advice to insurance company clients;
  • Taking examinations under oath;
  • Taking a leading role in federal and state litigation, including declaratory judgment actions brought by our insurer clients and defending our insurer clients in litigation filed by policyholders;
  • Drafting and/or supervising the drafting of pleadings; motions with supporting briefs; and mediation statements;
  • Corresponding with opposing counsel, other parties, clients, experts/consultants, and the court;
  • Conducting legal research using Westlaw as needed;
  • Drafting and/or supervising the drafting of discovery requests and subpoenas;
  • Reviewing document collections received from parties and third-parties in litigation as needed and managing document productions on behalf of our clients and consultants;
  • Taking and defending depositions;
  • Attending hearings and mediations;
  • Retaining and managing experts and consultants as required;
  • Effectively delegating to and managing the work of more junior associates and paralegals.
