About The Position

Hut 8 is on a mission to build and operate some of the world's largest data centers for next-generation computing workloads. As an Associate, Project Engineer, you will support our lead engineer in all phases of the facility development lifecycle-from design and engineering, procurement to construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to own critical aspects of project execution in a fast-paced, cutting-edge industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, performing takeoffs, and developing BOMs and RFPs.
  • Knowledge of engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Proven ability to interface with cross-functional teams, including engineers, vendors, contractors, and operations staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting in manufacturing or construction settings.
  • Familiarity with Bitcoin mining infrastructure or high-density computing environments is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed and thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the design and engineering of custom cooling solutions, ensuring alignment with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Use engineering drawings to create Requests for Proposals (RFPs), perform quantity takeoffs, and determine Bills of Materials (BOMs) for procurement.
  • Manage procurement processes, including vendor sourcing, material selection, and supply chain coordination to meet timelines and budgets.
  • Interface with internal and external design engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and iterate on system designs.
  • Assist in commissioning activities, including system testing, integration, and performance validation.
  • Develop and compile commissioning documentation, such as as-built drawings, test reports, and handover packages.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cooling system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Train operational teams on system functionality, safety protocols, and best practices post-commissioning.
  • Manage contractors on-site, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project standards.
  • Identify and resolve issues during manufacturing, construction, or operations through proactive problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
