SEL Infrastructure Defense seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Security position in Pullman, WA. This position will focus on assessment, design, and implementation of security and communications for the power grid systems. A typical day as a Project Engineer might include: Apply fundamental concepts, practices and procedures within the power system focus area to support engineering tasks and project goals. Assist teams that support customers with the design, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems, both on-site and from SEL offices. Complete assigned work using established procedures and working under immediate supervision. Complete assigned work within agreed upon scope, schedule and budget while focusing on quality and safety.

  • Apply fundamental concepts, practices and procedures within the power system focus area to support engineering tasks and project goals.
  • Assist teams that support customers with the design, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems, both on-site and from SEL offices.
  • Complete assigned work using established procedures and working under immediate supervision.
  • Complete assigned work within agreed upon scope, schedule and budget while focusing on quality and safety.
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Self-motivated with continuous desire to learn and find solutions.
  • Willing to travel both domestically and internationally a minimum of 25% based on focus area.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
  • Negative drug test result(s).
  • College coursework in electric power and/or controls (power system protection, symmetrical components, programming, control systems).
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • Work experience in electric utilities, industrial plants, communications, computer programming, or construction.
  • Industrial control system security experience, including technical controls, security assessments, policies, plans and procedures.
  • CISSP and/or GSEC or equivalent certifications required.
  • Working knowledge of NERC/CIP compliance and/or NIST SP800 security requirements.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
