At the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), we are pushing the boundaries of what is possible, delivering innovative solutions to sponsors such as NASA, the Department of Defense, and industry. The UDRI Space & Power System Office is pioneering the next generation of power technologies, enabling sustainable, resilient, high-efficiency solutions for terrestrial, aerospace, and advanced space-based operations. We’re seeking an experienced Project Analyst to support space power systems and other cross-functional projects. Under the guidance of a project manager, the candidate will develop and coordinate time, budget, and resources to complete work within project requirements and monitor/report progress to the principal investigator (PI). The candidate will also assist in managing project risk by identifying potential costs, scheduling risk events, and recommending risk mitigation strategies. The candidate will also frequently work with other UDRI organizations to resolve technical and programmatic issues, ensuring customer deliverables are met. The candidate will have frequent contact with the customer’s senior leadership. Their decisions influence project schedules, client relationships, and expenditures and shape the organization’s long-range goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Extensive Proficiency using Deltek Costpoint software for Government contractors, including Accounting, Contracts, Projects, Time & Expense, and Reports & Analytics Modules.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with operations and administrative staff, as well as internal and external customers.
  • Ability to recognize common and uncommon programmatic/contractual issues, then develop solutions or alternatives to various complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in participating in cross-organizational teams to solve complex problems.
  • Experience working with a wide range of financial deliverables, including spend plans, CFSRs, and FMHRs.
  • Proficiency with M.S. Office Suite – namely Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen or permanent residency is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience in a related position.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense (DoD) and industrial sponsors.
  • Project Management certification via PMI or DAU.
  • Experience with tracking contract deliverables, contractual modifications, and awareness of when contractual modifications are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team of non-direct reports to drive to a deliverable.
  • Familiarity with UDRI’s Version of CostPoint.
  • Experience with invoice approvals including auditing of billing vs. actuals and how to resolve discrepancies.
  • Familiarity with UD processes and procedures.
