About The Position

Are you ready to be a key player in keeping communities safe when emergencies strike? As an Associate Program Manager in Emergency Planning within our Gas organization, you’ll help make sure our teams are prepped and ready to handle storms and other urgent situations across New England. You’ll work with different groups inside and outside the company to improve how we respond to emergencies and keep things running smoothly.   This role is based in Northboro, MA and may require occasional in-person days for team collaboration, meetings, and training as needed as well as occasional travel throughout Massachusetts and New York. Role requirements are subject to change based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Emergency Planning or Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution    
  • Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026   
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on July 13, 2026
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in the Utility Industry.
  • Experience working in emergency planning.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the annual review process of the Massachusetts Gas Emergency Response Plan including stakeholder review, Federal and State regulatory updates and coordination with the Massachusetts Electric Emergency Response Plan.
  • Work collaboratively in the development and facilitation of exercises and coordination of planning sessions that include Company personnel and Federal, State, County and/or Municipal agency emergency response organizations.
  • Work collaboratively in the development of Emergency Response Plan training needs assessment and delivery of annual training to employees holding Gas Emergency Response Organization responsibilities.
  • Provide support of large-scale, real-time National Grid emergency events in an Emergency Planning capacity that supports the Emergency Response Organization.
  • Support development of improved end-to-end processes, validating/testing, exercising and executing processes when needed, to improve efficiency, effectiveness and compliance.
  • Support benchmarking and improvement of Gas Emergency Response Plans, Mutual Assistance Policy, Extreme Weather Plan, and other supporting program documents to maintain the local emergency planning capability and enhance safety, compliance and operability.
  • Actively support incorporation of the Incident Command System for emergency response purposes through the gas organization and support organizations to build upon current knowledge and established programs.
