ASSOCIATE PROGRAM AUDITOR, CalPERS

About the position

California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) seeks an Associate Program Auditor in the Office of Audit Services, Employer Compliance Unit. Under the direction of the Staff Management Auditor/Senior Program Auditor, the incumbent assists with the planning and conducting of public agency audits to ensure public agencies' compliance with the Public Employees Retirement Law (PERL) and California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) contracts.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complex audits and audit procedures.
• Document the audit procedures performed and the audit conclusions reached in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards.
• Facilitate and participate in discussions of audit objectives, scope, findings, and recommendations.

Requirements

• All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) listed on the Classification Specification should be included in your application package to clearly demonstrate how you meet the MQs for this position.
• Upload a copy of your college degree or transcripts showing completion of a degree.
• If you have a degree from outside of the United States, you must submit an evaluation of this degree to determine the US equivalency.

Nice-to-haves

• Professional accounting, auditing, management information system, or related financial and/or performance consulting experience which included the preparation of reports and presentation of recommendations to management.
• Ability to analyze problems and recommend effective courses of action.
• Proven written and oral communication skills and the ability to explain complex laws and information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and manage and produce formal, written reports with documented findings and objective conclusions.
